Cortona was an inspirational location for our wedding. Whilst the website has a number of pictures of the town hall, it really doesn’t do the medieval Tuscan hilltop town justice. For us it ranked alongside Venice and Florence as one of the highlights of our trip to Italy.
The Ceremony was superbly conducted, and the local town dignitary who ran the ceremony, made us feel supremely welcome, he stated that it was an honour and a privilege that we chose Cortona for our wedding. In contrast we felt that the honour and privilege was ours.
The day itself was perfect, whilst most couples you speak to say that your wedding day is a whirlwind and goes in a flash, Monica and Marco paced the day superbly, so we had time to soak in the atmosphere and our surroundings, whilst having time to mingle with all our guests. As a result we can remember every detail of our wedding, although this often leads to daydreaming followed by a bout of depression, that we’re not still in Italy.
Stefano our photographer recommended by Romantic Italian Weddings, was a discreet presence throughout our wedding, never intruding and captured some fantastic moments – we would unreservedly recommend him.
Monica, a great asset to Romantic Italian Weddings proved a reassuring presence throughout not just the wedding day but also during the preceding week to ensure everything ran smoothly.
The rest of the day exceeded our expectations, Renata created a delicious 8 course wedding feast – there was certainly no shortage of food!! DJ Alex took our playlist and developed 4 separate sets, his experience showed and he judged the mood superbly.
What shone through was the professionalism and experience of Marco and his organisation. At the first meeting on our day of arrival, Marco confirmed all the details of the wedding and managed any last minute adaptations.
This gave us the luxury of a stress free build-up to the wedding, allowing us to focus on enjoying the villa, spend time with our friends and family and experience the local culture.
Villa San Crispolto a sympathetically restored 13th Century Monastery proved a perfect venue, the grounds were beautifully maintained (by Marcos Uncle), with the pool proving a focal point for the week. The views of the lake can only be described as sensational.
Passignano-Sul-Trasimeno a quaint lakeside town was ideal for our requirements during the week, with a number of bars and restaurants. However the main asset of the town were the people – whether that being a restaurant catering for a party of 20 people straight off the street, or the locals stopping to recommend the best Prosecco at the local supermarket for our wedding.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Marco, Maria and Monica for all their work that went into giving us our dream wedding.
We will definitely be returning to the area in the near future…………………………
The new Mr & Mrs Rose
